Take Away from yesterday

Whoo Hoo! We are almost done. I have had such a great time this week. I have learned such a wealth of information. It had been about seven years since my last technology classes. Wow have things change. Thanks for giving us time in class to work on our projects. Thank you to all of you for your knowledge and help! You are great teachers and have a wealth of information to teach us. Have a great summer!

Take Away from today

First part of the day we talked about assessment tools to use during our unit and culminating task. This information was helpful to plan my assessment I am going to use during my instruction.

The second part of the day I went to the Smart Board class. I feel more confident than I did to start using the smart board in my classroom. It is a very cool tool. I can see the use of using it in many ways in the classroom. Natalie's web sites for support were very helpful too.

The last session I went to was Daily. This was a lot of fun. I worked with my partners from my school and we came up with a very cute skit about bloggin. It was fun to go around the school and take pictures. I also liked how we had to make it into an imovie becaue it gave us more practice for when we make ours for the unit.

Another thing I have really enjoyed in class is having the partners to work on our projects and the grade level partners. I have met some really nice people and have learned a lot about them and there schools.

Using Technology to Dig for Meaning Discussion

This article goes right along with what we were talking about today in class. Using the teaching for understanding framework is the new 21st century way of teaching. I believe it could be used with or without technology. I like the fact in using technology since we are a technology based world. The three teachers who sighted their projects made a powerful impact on the students learning as well to the community. The teaching for understanding framework is a good way to teach because it promotes students to have a deeper meaning of what they are learning. And our goal as teachers is for the students to remember what they have been taught so they can apply it to their life, not just to memorize information for a test.

I also liked how the article broke down the "Elements of and Criteria for Teaching for Understanding". I really like to use a guide or rubric when I am trying to meet my goals and objectives. This will help me when doing my framework for my projects. I think that it is important to give students rubric to help them guide their learning as well, which I am going to incorporate in my projects.

As you talked about in class today... the article also talks about how technology is helping students develop deeper understanding of the curriculum using such technology as: internet, calculators, e-mail, graphing, multi-media etc. Like you said in class today, we need to be accountable for why we are using technology in the classroom and show parents and administrators that research has shown technology is beneficial for students learning in the 21st century.

I enjoyed reading the article.

Take Away from today

Wow! What a day at TTL academy. I learned so much I don't even know where to start. The first thing I learned today was how to download pictures onto my computer. Yes... I have never done this. But I learned and it is very cool. I also got a clear focus on what my project is going to look like. Now I just need to take my pictures and put them into my I-movie. I learned how to do I movie, butt are still some questions I have, but I think I have a good start. Lance was very helpful and I look forward to learning more as the days come.
